Delphi reached an agreement with GM on amended settlement

Friday, Delphi Corp. (DPHIQ.PK: News ) announced that it reached an agreement with GM on amended settlement and restructuring agreements. Per the agreements, Delphi will receive support from GM that Delphi estimates to be valued at approximately $10.6 billion for its transformation, increased from about $6.0 billion in the January
2008 settlement. The agreement would modify the mechanics and expand the amount of Delphi’s net hourly pension liability transfer to GM pursuant to section 414(l) of the Internal Revenue Code from $1.5 billion under the original GSA to about $3.4 billion.

Web site The Car Connection on Tuesday managed to get its digital hands on photos of the what is said to be the production version of the Chevy Volt, the much-ballyhooed plug-in hybrid from General Motors.

The photos were made available on GM’s media Web site unintentionally, a company representative told The Detroit News. They were quickly taken down from GM’s site after The Car Connection posted them.

Building small cars in the U.S. has generally been a money-losing venture for General Motors Corp. (GM)

But now the auto maker believes it has found the formula to turn a profit on compact cars, even if those cars are built by union labor in a traditional Rust Belt town.

GM on Thursday will announce a major investment in its Lordstown, Ohio, assembly plant designed to ready the factory for a next-generation compact car: the Chevrolet Cruze.

The all-new 2009 Cadillac CTS luxury saloon arrives in UK showrooms from 1 September 2008. With a dramatic coupe-like profile, the new right-hand drive CTS has a lavish specification as standard. Prices will start at £26,995 for the 211 ps 2.8 V6 model and at £32,995 for the 311 ps 3.6 V6 model. Both engines are mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. An advanced 2.9 litre V6 diesel engine will join the new CTS line-up in 2009.

When it made its debut in 2002, the first CTS helped change the perception of the brand throughout Europe and the US. Now the all-new model arrives, redesigned from the ground up, with new world-class engines and transmissions and dramatic new styling inside and out. CADILLAC - Three Cadillac men were expected to be arraigned today for their role in the sexual assault against a 27-year-old woman, who was found unconscious in a playground on Marble Street Tuesday morning.

Officers responded to the location at 8:49 a.m. Tuesday morning to investigate a report of an injured woman. The woman was found with injuries to her face as well as other injuries and was passing in and out of consciousness, according to Cadillac Public Safety Director Jeff Hawke.

FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) — The third time was an alarm for a Cadillac driver apparently loading up on free gas while posing as a stranded motorist. A police officer became suspicious the third time he saw the same man stopped on the side of a road next to his Cadillac with the hood up, said Charles Gonzalez, the area’s neighborhood police officer.

New Delhi, Aug. 1 General Motors plans to stave off the domestic launch of its global sports utility vehicle brands — Cadillac and Hummer — for this year.

For the current year, it plans to almost double the production of its compact car Spark as it commences operations at the new plant in September.

The plant is slated to be inaugurated in the presence of the company’s global President and Chief Operating Officer, Mr Fritz Henderson.
